Al Riyadh

1978

This is Al Riyadh

Few yachts define the era and sizeable ambitions of the global elite quite like Al Riyadh. Creating a superyacht for the Saudi royal family was a big test of Feadship’s capacity to cope with palatial demands. The size was so far beyond 1970s norms that the Kaag yard itself had to be specially extended to incorporate this 64.64-metre masterpiece, and, once finished, she barely made it through the narrow bridges en route to the North Sea. With her glass-walled plunge pool, stone table for barbecuing an entire sheep, barbershop, walk-in freezer, gym and a fully functioning hospital with an operating theatre and intensive care unit, Al Riyadh remained the largest and most luxurious yacht on the planet for years to come.
