An American of Dutch descent, Gerard K. Bos from New York, contacted the shipyard for a twin-screw steel motor yacht. Designed by H.W. de Voogt, the 16.78-metre Gerelbo II was the first steel yacht to be completely welded at the shipyard in Aalsmeer.
