In 1946 a Dutch engineer living in Rio de Janeiro ordered the 13.20-metre teak sailing boat Lafitte at the shipyard in Aalsmeer. Due to a shortage of materials in post-war Europe, this beautiful yacht wasn’t delivered until March 1950 when she was transported to Brazil on the S.S. Salland and handed over to her proud owner, who immediately upon receipt sent Mr H.W. de Voogt a long letter with words of praise.
