Classic Feadships gather for annual rendezvous

The Feadship Heritage Fleet – an association for owners of Feadships launched thirty or more years ago – recently held its third rendezvous. Sixteen Feadships took part in the event, which was hosted by the Feadship yard in Aalsmeer.

The event started with a celebration of the 50th birthday of the Feadship Ammerland, the 60th birthday and relaunch of the Feadship Hera, and the 80th birthday of the Feadship De Elft. This gave lots of good reasons to raise a glass as the owners welcomed each other on board their Feadships. A further toast was made as the owners of Euros II and Maarten Senior II announced their intention to join the Feadship Heritage Fleet, bringing the total number of members to 63.

Past, present and future

The General Assembly on Saturday morning discussed the association’s policies and future activities, which included an agreement to meet at the Feadship yard in Makkum for next year’s Rendezvous. This was followed by a tour over the yard, offering a unique opportunity to see the very latest Feadships under construction.

After lunch it was time for the Rendezvous rally on the Aalsmeer lakes, which concluded at a location of considerable historic significance. Fort Kudelstaart was built between 1881 and 1914 as part of the defence line of Amsterdam and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A tour of the fort concluded with a special dinner for FHF members cooked by an Italian chef.

Join the club

“This successful weekend brought together like-minded people who are passionate about their yachts,” comments the chairman of the Feadship Heritage Fleet. “Although we now have 63 members, this is still just the beginning. There are many more classic Feadships out there whose owners we would like to invite to join this exclusive club. Please contact us via feadshipheritagefleet.nl if you are interested.”
