Joy for Feadship at World Superyacht Awards
We are pleased to share the happy news that the 70-metre Feadship Joy was a winner at the World Superyacht Awards 2017 ceremony in Florence on Saturday. She took home the famous Neptune statue in the ‘Displacement Motor Yachts Between 500GT and 1,499GT’ category.
The independent jury of current and former superyacht owners admitted that they found it very hard to select a winner in this class, not least because our very own Vanish was also among the six nominees. Ultimately they jumped for Joy and her splendid combination of “dynamic looks, forward-thinking design and excellence of construction.” The judges noted that Joy’s “complex exterior styling, which incorporates many scalloped surfaces and spacious decks, could not have been easy to construct, while the huge expanses of glass would also have tested the builder. Both elements have added to the appeal of this strikingly modern yacht.”
The judges also stated that they were “particularly impressed with the manner in which all three aft decks could be enclosed with full-height sliding glass panels, thus increasing the interior volume in times of inclement weather.” They commended the way that Joy’s interior design responded to the owner’s request for a home rather than hotel, “creating an enviable blend of comfortable modernism and striking design.” Last but not least, the jury of expert owners complemented Feadship on Joy’s active noise attenuation system for the gearboxes.
On behalf of everyone at Feadship, we would like to congratulate the owners, exterior designers Bannenberg & Rowell, interior designers Studio Indigo and all the workforce who poured their skills into this award-winning performance.
