Global explorer Archimedes returns to Feadship for well-deserved pampering
If any superyacht deserves to spend time enjoying the unrivalled care of the Feadship refit and maintenance experts it must surely be Archimedes. Having recently completed an epic expedition into the Arctic, the captain and crew have this week received a warm welcome from the Feadship team who were delighted to welcome the yacht back for some richly deserved pampering and various upgrades.
Since her launch in 2008, this 68-metre Feadship has logged over 210,000 nautical miles and has been actively cruising more than half the time since her launch visiting more than 80 countries.
The refit project will span the next three months to ensure that Archimedes leaves the yard in peak condition, ready for her next series of adventures. A range of activities include replacing and upgrading all on board AV facilities, fresh teak for the stern platform, new upholstery for furniture and beds, the painting of the sun deck interior floor and a rebuild of the crew mess.
On the major maintenance front, work will be carried out on the shaft line, engine supports, gangway, side hull door, tender lift, stern platform door, seawater cooling systems and stabilizers. Various parts of the superstructure will be painted and a new antifouling system added. Last but not least, the generator, heating & air-conditioning, watermaker and fuel oil separator will all be upgraded.
“It is a genuine pleasure to bring Archimedes home to Feadship,” comments Captain Christopher Walsh. “This yacht has taken the owner and the crew to all areas of the world in complete safety and comfort. Having the refit activities carried out at Feadship ensures that she will continue to operate in the premium condition that only a Feadship can offer.”
